Map and Item Search: find resources you have seen

Set the request you are working on as the objective, then use the DocPad map to follow its marker. For a resource or animal you have already discovered, open Item Search and select that entry. A nearby marker may be above or below you: look for the route’s vines, ladders or cave entrance.

Quick guide

  1. Read the active request and set that objective.
  2. Open the map and use Item Search for an item you have previously found.
  3. Place your own marker on a distant destination you want to revisit.
  4. When a marker seems unreachable, check for a change in elevation.

Choose the correct objective before travelling

The prologue teaches Set Objective for your childhood friend. The same habit prevents confusion between the Hot Milk delivery to Lupo and the later investigation at Wolf Hill’s tree. A marker follows the objective you selected, so check its wording before concluding it points to the wrong target.

Use discoveries as a resource index

Eli’s tutorial demonstrates the map recording animals, seed types and forage you have encountered. Video Chums also describes Item Search covering seeds, plants, fish, animals and ore once found. Select the known entry to show its locations, then plan a route from your current position.

If an item has never been discovered, the absence of a search entry is not proof that it does not exist. Use a documented first location, such as the early Bloomfield Wisp routes, to establish that discovery.

Follow terrain instead of only the compass direction

The world has vertical paths. Thalry demonstrates missing a vine and recommends camera adjustments and markers to make those paths easier to follow. When a marker sits behind a steep wall, look up and down for a climbable connection or cave rather than repeatedly pushing against the direct line.

For the Guardian specifically, use the upper hill and vine descent. General camera advice is not a substitute for that known route.
